Zaki, Dr Fusion, Lee Berry, Gary Spires, Raydius · 37 tracks played
Zaki eased into the evening with Tosca's "Rondo Acapricio," laying down a gentle current of downtempo electronics, a warm-up before the full dive. The mood soon shifted through Boddhi Satva and Eustace Jahari's "Casus Belli" and Player's "Baby Come Back," steadily building a mid-tempo groove that retained a distinct soulful edge. The set’s character truly solidified around Martha AB and Rude Boy Rupert's "You and Me (Cosmic Soul Main Mix)," where the vocals met a subtle, insistent rhythm, hinting at deeper territories without ever forcing the issue. From there, tracks like Esteble and Joram Feitsma's "Svea" and the classic house sounds of DJ Christian B's "What is love" kept the floor moving with an understated confidence. The trajectory continued upward, embracing the retro-futurism of Retrofract's "Summer Nights '86" before settling into the foundational rhythms of Mphoe Househead's "Fundamentals" and the reflective "Peaceful Thoughts" by Casa Devi and Layal Watfeh, a smooth descent after a journey through diverse, yet always rooted, house inflections.
Dr Fusion followed, hitting a more direct, driving pulse from the outset. Aberton's "Twisted - Vocal Mix" immediately anchored the set in a robust, slightly raw house sound, a clear statement of intent. Coflo's "Ring The Alarm" kept the energy simmering, leaning into a percussive, almost tribal feel that felt less about melodic flourishes and more about rhythmic propulsion. DJ LINCS then offered "Shaya Deep (Original Mix)," maintaining the subterranean vibe but injecting a touch more atmosphere, a brief moment of breath before Johnny Deep cranked up the funk with "Fidget Funk (Radio Edit)." Kisk's "Phus1ony (Lopazz & Eddi Zarook Remix)" marked a notable shift, introducing a techier, more sophisticated edge without sacrificing the underlying groove. The set concluded with a powerful one-two punch of Kikko Esse and Emanuele Del Carmine's "Departure" and N'dinga Gaba and Saara Maria's "Back Underground," reinforcing Dr Fusion's commitment to substantial, floor-focused house music.
Lee Berry stepped up, initiating an immediate atmospheric descent with Larrosa (AR), Nico Sparvieri, and SACK (AR)'s "Interstellar." This was a set sculpted for the long haul, starting in deep, ethereal progressive territory and patiently building. Frankey and Sandrino's "Rock A Lott" provided an early peak, its signature blend of melodic tension and restrained power setting the tone for what was to come. The journey continued through the emotive expanses of Helsloot and Yorina's "In Your Hands (Tim Engelhardt Extended Remix)," a track that expertly balanced yearning vocals with a pulsating rhythm. Pablo German’s "La Nuit" then pulled things into a slightly darker, more introspective space, a momentary dip before the build recommenced. Jamie Stevens' "Endgame" and Marc Romboy's "Jigsaw" kept the progressive momentum flowing, each track adding another layer of intricate sound design, culminating in the deep, resonant tones of Yeah But No's "New Again - Karmon Remix," a fittingly expansive closer that lingered long after the last beat.
Gary Spires brought a different kind of intensity to the airwaves. The set kicked off with Unus Emre's "Truth," laying down a brooding, almost industrial-tinged foundation that promised little in the way of easy listening. Canavezzi's "Void (Original Mix)" further solidified this mood, a track built on space and stark, insistent rhythms rather than conventional hooks. It was a journey into the deeper, more experimental fringes of techno, with Ramzsi's "Need To Be Higher (Original Mix)" pushing the energy with its hypnotic drive. CATTCH's "Harlem" offered a momentary textural shift, a grittier, more urban edge before Extrawelt's "Honey Hunter" unleashed a torrent of intricate, relentless electronic energy, a high-octane finish that left no doubt about the raw power at play.
Raydius closed out the night, shifting gears entirely with a rapid-fire drum & bass assault. Submorphics and Zar's "Western Times" immediately pulled listeners into a liquid, yet driving, soundscape, characterized by crisp breaks and an underlying melancholic harmony. Dramatic and Tayla's "Kano (Original Mix)" followed, maintaining the intricate drum patterns while injecting a deeper, more resonant bassline, showcasing the more atmospheric side of the genre. Flaco's "Lotus" continued this exploration, a track that found its groove in subtle shifts and a warm, inviting production. The energy then became more direct with Felov and TeeJ's "Anti Roller Roller Club," leaning into more complex percussive arrangements before Stunna and Renan's "PET IT" delivered a final, expertly crafted slice of deep, rolling drum & bass, a masterclass in nuanced rhythmic propulsion to end the broadcast.
