We came off FM and onto DAB+, rebuilt the app and the website from the ground up - but the mission is exactly the one we set out with in a cold November back in 1994: put quality underground music on air for the heads who still believe in real radio. This is the same station, sharpened for how you actually listen now.

From West London Pirate to 24/7 DAB+

Point Blank's first transmission went out in November 1994, broadcasting as a West London pirate station to anyone within range who wanted house music that wasn't being played anywhere else - legal or illegal. At a time when the internet was barely taking its first steps and the dial was crowded with commercial playlists, that was a genuinely hard thing to find. So we built somewhere to find it.

Three decades on, the reach has grown but the mindset hasn't. In 2021, Point Blank made the leap from FM pirate to a fully licensed DAB+ station, and today we broadcast 24/7 across London and the surrounding counties - on DAB+, online, and through our mobile apps - heard worldwide by anyone who tunes in and locks on. But the principle is the same as it was in 1994: put underground music on air for the people who go looking for it. That work matters.
